HOUSE PASSES FARM BILL CONFERENCE REPORT

by Mike Connealy on 01.29.2014

US House of Representatives this morning (01-29) passed the Farm Bill conference report on a bi-partisan vote of 251-166. Congratulations and heartfelt thanks to House Ag Committee Chairman Frank Lucas (R. Oklahoma) and ranking member Collin Peterson (D. Minnesota) for guiding this important legislation across the finish line.

Next up is a vote in the US Senate which is expected within the next 10 days. Assuming that hurdle is cleared, then all that remains is a signature from President Obama. The White House has signaled support of this conference report, so all in all everything shapes up as a “win” for those interested in production agriculture and the vital nutrition programs that rely upon the certainty of the Farm Bill in order to operate effectively.

Questions or comments are welcome! We will publish the actual votes of all members in the House later today.
