The below changes were approved to the ARH sweet and tart cherry pilot programs for the 2022 and succeeding crop years per product management bulletin PM-21-047:

  • The end of insurance for revenue losses was extended from January 15 to March 1 to accommodate producers in Michigan, New York, and Wisconsin who may not have sold their production by the current end of insurance to help ensure they may use their actual price when determining claims.
  • Sweet cherries will be recognized in Michigan as a distinct processing type that often receives a high price than briner and other processing types to enable more accurate coverage for canner types of processing.
  • Coverage was expanded by allowing written agreement requests for tart cherries in Canyon County, Idaho, Yamhill County, Oregon, and Walla Walla County, Washington.
