While a quality product certainly helps drive apple sales, apple suppliers are learning their shippers might be just as important. A display box with apples can do a lot to attract and motivate customers, says the New York Apple Association. Point-of-sale (POS) materials are a part of the association’s marketing strategy. They also encourage content for all retail partners’ websites, newsletters, blogs, signage and packaging to make products stand out in the produce department.
New York is leading the country in sales of 3-pound bags. Large displays featuring fall harvest imagery should be at the top of retailers’ plans this time of year. New York Apple Association retailers are rolling out a “Big on Flavor” campaign, offering consumers a chance to sample apples on-site.
