The Packer recently released its Organic Fresh Trends 2023 survey, which showed that despite inflation, organic fruit remains a popular category with consumers.
Highlights from the report revealed that:
- 16% of respondents purchase organic blackberries exclusively
- 15% of respondents purchase organic strawberries exclusively
- 14% of respondents purchase organic blueberries exclusively
The study also found that 35% of strawberry purchasers and 36% of blueberry purchasers also indicated that for overall berry purchases, they purchase organic periodically. While sales of organic berries continue to increase, for some West Coast berry growers, margins have often been smaller due to rising input costs. All signs point to this upward trends of organic berry sales to continue.
