potato-harvestPotato exports from the U.S. are trending higher, according to a recent report from Potatoes USA. Overcoming supply chain issues and increased competition, the report signals the continued demand for U.S. potatoes in the global market.

Study highlights include:

• Fresh potatoes saw an increase of 16%, led by increases to Canada (31%), Central America (29%) and Mexico (26%). Decreases included Taiwan (24%), the Philippines (36%) and Thailand (88%) due to competition from China.
• Frozen potatoes saw an increase by 30%, led by increases from Mexico (63%), Central America (55%), Canada (52%), China (28%) and Japan (14%).
• Dehydrated potatoes were the lone category to take a dip, mainly due to tight supplies and European competition. With the exception of Korea (59% increase), all markets saw declines.
