After triple digits pounded the Southwest over the past week, AccuWeather forecasters are predicting a “heat dome” over the western Corn Belt heading into next week. Coupled with below-average precipitation, this could have a large impact on corn production. How much is at risk? Estimators at AccuWeather believe total bushels could scorch upwards of 45 million bushels of corn, dropping to 14 billion, compared to the 14.51 billion bushels of corn production estimated in the most recent WASDE report.
