The U.S., in partnership with Turkey, Ukraine, Romania and other NATO countries, is teaming up to find alternative shipping routes for Ukrainian grain. Ukraine is left with limited export options since Russia’s exit of the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
Kansas State Ag Economist Antonia Broyaka says even with other options, capacity will not be as large as the Black Sea ports. Negotiations continue with Romania for potential access to the. Danube River, although Broyaka says it would only add about 4 million metric tons of export capacity.
