Grape Cluster Freeze

The Grape Cluster Freeze insurance policy covers losses incurred by the grower for unavoidable death of grape clusters caused by direct damage from freeze or frost.

The freeze damage must be due to freezing temperatures (32 degrees and below) which result in direct physical damage or death to the inflorescence or formed grape clusters. This damage must occur after the clusters are formed and clearly visible.

How Grape Cluster Freeze Insurance Works

The acreage must be covered by verifiable frost protection utilizing one or more of the following methods:

  • Flood or drip irrigation with water available
  • Wind machines
  • Helicopters
  • Heaters

There are two deductibles available for this policy:

  • Basic
  • XS10
