There are a handful of factors that can potentially limit farmers’ ability to integrate new conservation practices into their operations, but crop insurance doesn’t influence the management decision and its implementation, according to a new study. Farmers are hampered most by the time and cost requirements of integrating things like conservation tillage and cover crops. When asked to rank crop insurance as a similar factor, farmers resoundingly said it is the least limiting farm management variable in adopting conservation practices.
