The USDA reports crop conditions for corn, winter wheat and spring wheat improved the week ending June 1. This was due to favorable weather in key growing areas.

The USDA projects that 69% of the corn is in good to excellent shape. This is a 1% improvement from last week. The corn crop is now 93% planted with 78% emerged.

The USDA is making its first condition rating for soybeans this season. The report indicated that 67% of soybeans are in good to excellent shape. Planting is now 84% complete and emergence is at 63%.

The winter wheat crop is rated at 52% in good to excellent condition. This is a 2% improvement from last week. As of June 1, 83% of the crop is headed and 3% has been harvested. This is on track with the five-year average.

The spring wheat crop is rated 50% good to excellent. This is 5% higher. The crop is now 95% planted and 73% of the crop has emerged.

The cotton crop is rated as 49% good to excellent. This is a 12% decrease from last year. As of June 1, 66% has been planted and 8% is squaring.
