The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service 2025 Acreage report showed minimal changes from the March Prospective Plantings report. Total corn, soybean, and wheat planted acres for the 2025/2026 crop year are estimated at 224.1 million. This is up slightly from 223.8 million in 2024/2025.

Corn and soybean acres came in just below trade expectations and the March estimates, while wheat acres were slightly higher. June corn acres were reported at 95.2 million acres. Trade expectations were 95.4 million acres and the March prospective planting was estimated at 95.3 million acres. In 2024, approximately 90.6 million acres were planted.

June soybean acreage came in at 83.4 million versus trade expectations of 83.7 million acres. March prospective plantings were estimated at 83.7 million acres, while 87.1 million acres were planted in 2024/2025.

The USDA placed June wheat acreage at 45.5 million acres. This is above the trade expectations of 45.4 million acres and the March prospective plantings of 45.4 million acres. In 2024/2025, there were 46.1 million wheat acres planted.

The accompanying Grain Stocks report pegged corn, soybean, and wheat stocks just above average trade expectations. Market analysts viewed the report as largely neutral.
Farmer’s Keeper Account Manager Jeremy McCann emphasized the risk to harvest due to excessive rain in the Southeast. Even though the acres were planted, many areas were flooded.
