The latest USDA Crop Progress report shared that soybean conditions improved for the first time in several weeks. As of July 13, seventy percent of the crop was rated in good to excellent condition. This was a 4% increase from the previous week. Five percent of the soybean crop was rated at poor to very poor.

The USDA reports 47% of the soybean crop is blooming, which coincides with the five-year average. Fifteen percent of the soybean crop is setting pods. This is 1% ahead of the five-year average.

Seventy-four percent of the corn crop was reported in good to excellent condition. Iowa leads with 85% rated good to excellent, followed by Illinois at 68% and Indiana at 62%. Five percent of the corn crop was rated poor to very poor.

The USDA reports 34% of the corn crop silking. This is 5% ahead of the five-year average. Seven percent of the corn crop was in the dough stage. This is 2% ahead of the five-year average.

The winter wheat harvest was 63% complete nationwide as of July 13. That is 1% behind the five-year average.

Seventy-eight percent of spring wheat has headed. This is 3% ahead of the five-year average. The USDA estimates 54% of the crop was in good to excellent condition. This is a 4% improvement from last week, but 23% down from last year.
