The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) Board of Directors approved changes to the Camelina pilot crop insurance program on May 18, 2023. RMA is expanding coverage by allowing written agreements in select counties in Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, and Washington. In addition, to assist expansion by written agreement into the Great Plains, the fall planted practice will be offered in Harper County, Kansas.

The following changes to the Camelina Crop Provisions are effective for the 2024 and succeeding crop years:

  • Allow for both fall-planted and spring-planted types throughout the Crop Provisions
  • Add a June 30 contract change date.
  • Add a September 30 cancellation and termination date for counties with a fall-panted type.
  • Allow written agreements in all counties of Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, and Washington, and select counties in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas.
