Keep an eye on your mailbox as the 2021 Farm Producer Survey is anticipated to mail out yet this month. The survey, conducted by the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), will be sent to approximately 75,000 producers across the country. Farmers and ranchers can expect the survey to take no more than 10 minutes to complete, asking participants to share demographic and basic farm income. Answers can be submitted by January 18th, 2022, through mail or by filling out the questionnaire online at www.agcounts.usda.gov. Survey results will be reported on the NASS website next year, though no official estimates will be published from the study.
Why should producers take the time to fill out the survey? Accurate survey results will help lead to more robust demographic data products that better assist other federal agencies, state and local governments, researchers and others who can then better support American agriculture.
