Due largely to the industry’s sustained operations throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, a new Gallup poll shows farming and agriculture nets the highest percentage — 69 percent — of positive sentiment among those surveyed in the U.S. The jump to the top spot for agriculture reflects the general population’s perception of industries “crucial to people’s well-being.” The grocery and restaurant industries also scored high in the survey, showing the importance of a sustained food supply chain in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. The federal government brought up the rear in Gallup’s survey; only 30 percent of those responding saying they have a positive view of federal officials. See the full list from Gallup.
