Today, on the 25th anniversary of September 11, ProAg pauses to remember the lives lost and the communities forever changed by that day.

Hilltop Preserve, a 58-acre working farm in Raritan Township, New Jersey, was transformed into a permanent memorial ahead of the September 11 25th anniversary. Sitting nearly 700 feet above sea level, the farm offered a clear view of smoke rising from the World Trade Center more than 45 miles away that day in 2001. County officials say the land, protected from development in 2012 through a county and state farmland preservation program, now honors the 15 Hunterdon County residents lost that day while continuing to operate as active farmland.

The finished memorial includes a pentagon-shaped flower bed, two trees representing the Twin Towers, native plantings tied to the Flight 93 crash site in Pennsylvania and a visitor pavilion.
