Amidst challenges from the pandemic, competition and tariffs, pistachio acreage is predicted to show a 20% increase (409,000 bearing acres) from 2020. Among various factors contributing to this increase, the most notable includes 45% YOY growth in exports to the European market, as well as a 16% increase to China/Hong Kong. Analysts are predicting the acreage number in the U.S. could increase to over 500,000 by 2025, but caution growers that the predictive data may shift over time.
