Total farm tractor sales surged 50% in the U.S. within the first quarter of 2021, according to a new report by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM). Some sales increases were attributed to the increasing average age of ag fleets in both the U.S. and Canada. Articulated 4WD tractors and larger row-crop equipment also saw sales boosts starting in 2020 as commodity prices increased and trade difficulties started to ease. According to the report, other increases were likely due to a trend of homeowners purchasing small tractors for home improvement and landscaping projects throughout the pandemic.
