The USDA Agricultural Research Service announced this past Thursday a successful blocking of the African Swine Fever (ASF) virus in a vaccine test candidate. The vaccine was shown effective at protecting and preventing both the European and Asian-bred strains of the virus. Subsequently, newly published USDA research showed the vaccine can be replicated and still prove effective. A strong step for both science and agriculture, an ASF vaccine could help control the spread of the deadly virus impacting pork supplies in several countries. Read more on the ASF vaccine.
