Several national and state ag groups are suing EPA over its decision to revoke all tolerances of the insecticide chlorpyrifos. The ag and commodity group leaders American Farm Bureau, American Soybean Association, American Sugarbeet Growers and the Cherry Marketing Institute are seeking an injunction of the rule slated to take effect February 28th.
The groups say the decision would cause “significant, irreparable” damage and ultimately want the rule vacated, saying it conflicts with “properly developed science”, specifically in the 11 uses of chlorpyrifos found to be safe.
