President Trump signed a bipartisan spending package to end the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, prompting reactions from major agricultural groups that welcomed the reopening but urged stronger long-term action for farmers.

The Corn Refiners Association (CRA) praised the move as restoring stability for farmers and rural communities. CRA emphasized the need for full funding of USDA’s BioPreferred Program to sustain the bioeconomy.

The National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG) said reopening the government would allow USDA services and wheat research to resume. However, NAWG called for a comprehensive, bipartisan farm bill to provide lasting certainty amid low prices and high costs.

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) expressed relief that critical federal services and market data would resume. NCBA thanked congressional leaders for mitigating the shutdown’s impact, though it acknowledged the widespread disruptions it caused for producers.

The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) said the reopening would restore access to essential farm programs. NCGA used the moment to press Congress to approve year-round E15 fuel sales to boost energy security and corn demand.

Meanwhile, the National Farmers Union (NFU) welcomed the resolution but criticized it as only a minimal step. The NFU warned that farmers still face outdated safety nets, high costs, and economic stress across rural America.
