The agricultural contributions to the U.S. economy tell a compelling story on the critical nature of the farm and food industry. In a recent “Feeding the Economy” report published by various U.S. farmer and agricultural groups, economic output grew even more in 2023 compared to last year.
Agriculture and food are responsible for 22.92 million jobs, or almost 15% of all U.S. employment. Food manufacturing is the second most prolific job supplier, with over 200,000 facilities employing about 11.68 million people. Altogether, U.S. agriculture supports more than 46 million jobs in the U.S. and $2.6 trillion in wages.
