Like any form of science, transparency goes a long way in earning consumer trust. The same holds true in livestock production. Many believe the message that ruminant animals are a major cause of climate change. At the 2022 Beef Improvement Federation Symposium in New Mexico, Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef Executive Director Ruraidh Petre shared how producers can improve consumer trust in their industry and how the Sustainable Beef Network can impact global support for beef.
Petre says the facts are in favor of beef production and consumers need to be provided data that shows the carbon neutrality of livestock production. The Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef is a network of roundtables spanning 24 countries to develop the role of beef in a thriving, sustainable food system.
