Now ahead of the five-year average, U.S. corn growers have harvested 18% of the nation’s corn crop according to the latest USDA Crop Progress Report (up 3% over the five-year average). Crop conditions are unchanged from the previous report. 97% of corn is dented, 3% ahead of the five-year average and 74% is rated mature, a generous 10% ahead of the five-year average. The nation’s soybean crop is also ahead of the five-year average, with 75% of crops dropping leaves versus a 66% five-year average. Soybean harvest is reported 16% complete, ahead of the 13% five-year average. Winter wheat plantings are also ahead at 34%, compared to a five-year average of 32%.
