On track with 2021 growing season trends, corn progress reports maintain the grain at or slightly above average pace as harvest begins. This week’s USDA crop progress report says 4% of U.S. corn is harvested (down 1% from 2020) and 87% is dented as of September 12 (6 points ahead of the 5-year average). Soybeans hold steady at 38% reporting dropping leaves, ahead of the 5-year average of 29%, with 57% of the crop rated good to excellent.
