Predominantly dry, warm weather had analysts eyeing slightly quicker-than-normal corn and soybean harvest progress heading into this week. But in its weekly Crop Progress report Monday, USDA showed just eight percent of the nation’s corn crop is harvested, with just four or five percent of farmers running the combine in the I-states while farmers farther south and east made more significant progress. Another surprise in Monday’s report: Both corn and soybean ratings improved slightly from last week as both crops jumped ahead of the normal maturation pace. See more highlights from Monday’s report.
