After introducing its Autonomous 8R tractor earlier this year, John Deere announced a new joint venture California-based GUSS Automation. GUSS, which stands for Global Unmanned Spray System, has already built two driverless sprayers that target high-value crops in vineyards and orchards. The systems will use a combination of LiDAR technology and GPS.
>> The Orchard GUSS comes in at just under 25’ long and 6’4 tall
>> The Mini GUSS is 25% smaller than its older sibling, the Orchard, enabling it to navigate through high-density plantings.
Deere has stated at this time they will not be building the GUSS products or implementing any of the technology into their Deere products.
