U.S. President Joe Biden will announce today the availability of E15 blends of ethanol this summer to help curb increasingly high consumer fuel costs. This move will also cut reliance on foreign energy sources, according to the administration. Tuesday also marked a new 40-year high on inflation, stressing consumer wallets at the pump, grocery store and elsewhere.

After the announcement, Americans will have the option to use the 15% ethanol blend from June 1 to September 15. The ethanol blend was previously removed from pumps in summer due to misconceptions over its smog contributions. Research has shown, however, that the higher blend does not produce more smog than its 10% counterpart. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is considering additional action to allow for the use of E15 year-round.
