The USDA has mailed survey codes to all known U.S. agriculture producers across the country to respond to the 2022 Census of Agriculture survey. The annual census is the only survey in the country to compile comprehensive and impartial agriculture data for every state, county and territory.
The paper questionnaires will be sent out in phases, starting in December, though producers only need to respond once. All completed surveys must be submitted by February 6, 2023. The census includes farm operations of all sizes in both urban and rural areas that have produced, sold, or normally would have sold $1,000 or more of agricultural products this year.
New this year, respondents will answer questions on the use of precision agriculture, hemp production, hair sheep and updates to internet access questions.
