On Monday, President Trump and the USDA announced a new $8 billion Harvest Fuel Relief program to provide temporary relief amid record-high diesel and input costs. Agriculture Secretary Rollins said details will go out to producers in November, and payments are scheduled to arrive in January. Commodity-specific rates for Title I crops will also be released in November, while the payment method for other eligible commodities will be announced later.

A round-up of commodity group reactions praised the announcement, while also calling for sustainable long-term solutions, such as the year-round sale of E15.

  • National Corn Growers Association (Matt Frostic, President): “As we work to tackle the many economic challenges facing growers and rural communities, we urge Washington to focus on durable, bipartisan, long-term solutions that will result in lasting improvements to the farm and national economy.”
  • National Cotton Council (Nathan Reed, Chairman): “This assistance will provide important support to farm families as they complete the 2026 harvest and make plans for the coming crop year.”
  • National Association of Wheat Growers (Sam Kieffer, CEO): “While this relief is welcome, high fuel prices and other input costs continue to squeeze farm margins and threaten the viability of family farms.”
