U.S. farmers from across the country showed up to rally a House Agriculture subcommittee to fight for a federally subsidized crop insurance system in the 2023 farm bill. Experts pointed out how crop insurance now protects more than just traditional crops and has become a fundamental part of the ag industry’s safety net. With recent high-impact weather events over the last few years, farmers also requested the establishment of a disaster relief fund. Both concepts were well-received.
