Farmers like their crop insurance specific to their own operations and not simply the county level, new research shows. A move away from yield insurance that relies on county-level production variables as the basis for coverage has led an increasing number of farmers to select revenue-based products in recent years, new research shows. Guarantees are also major variables; many are selecting only products with guarantee increases. Revenue products offer farm-specific coverage, and that’s likely to spawn continued strong interest in such policies in the future, even as more options based on county-level coverage become available.
