Exceeding the previous mark set in 2014 by 14.6%, final 2021 trade data from the Department of Commerce showed ag exports from the United States topped $177 billion. This figure was also up 18% from 2020. Soybeans, corn, beef, dairy, distillers grains and pet food all set records as well.
Exports into six of the top ten export markets set new highs, which included China, Mexico, Canada, South Korea, the Philippines and Colombia. China led the way as the top destination for U.S. exports, topping $33 billion which represented a 25% increase over 2020. Mexico leapfrogged Canada with a 39% increase year over year at $25.5 billion.
