As of Monday, you have about 60 days to sign up for financial assistance through the second round of the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP 2). Notably, this round of federal funding includes programs through cooperative agreements as part of the USDA Pandemic Assistance for Producers initiative. The deadline for the new component that targets agricultural organizations and businesses of critical importance to rural communities, especially those that are by USDA’s definition socially disadvantaged, is May 5, well earlier than the general CFAP 2 signup. That package also includes technical assistance for some applicants in participating in FSA programs like disaster aid, conservation and direct payments. See more on CFAP 2 and learn how to apply.
