The USDA has requested feedback on a recently announced grant program aimed to improve the resiliency of our food and agricultural supply chain. The grant program will use up to $65 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding to support agricultural employers in three priority areas:
1) Driving U.S. economic recovery and safeguarding domestic food security by addressing current labor shortages in agriculture
2) Reducing irregular migration through the increased use of legal pathways
3) Improving working conditions for farmworkers.
The Farm Service Agency (FSA) is holding listening sessions with agricultural employer organizations, labor unions and the farm worker advocacy community this week to learn more about challenges and recommendations.
