As we approach peak season for blackberries, raspberries and blueberries, grower-shippers have reported that demand and volume are looking to be berry positive. Strong quality for the three berry types is also expected to meet consumers’ growing demand for summertime favorites.
California-based Naturipe Farms has said it will be their biggest raspberry season ever, and after a slower start to blueberries, they expect strong supplies throughout summer. Blueberry harvest has started in Michigan, Washington and Oregon, with California and New Jersey nearly complete. Blueberry production is reportedly ahead 26% from last year, according to the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council.
