Fall harvest is still underway in the Corn Belt, but crop specialists have observed some crop conditions that could have major implications for the 2021 growing season and call for attention in securing crop inputs for the next year, namely herbicides. Dry or drought conditions this year may have disrupted herbicide uptake, meaning your soils may still contain product that could remain active well into next year. It depends on the product applied and the specific field conditions, but if present in adequate levels, leftover herbicide could cause early crop stress, especially in the presence of other adverse variables like cool, damp soils or compaction.
