While the number of at-home prepared meals is on the decline again as restaurant visits surge, July did see a big boost in produce sales compared to June. July produce generated $5.9 billion in sales (up $97 million from June), driven primarily from fruit purchases. Produce marketers noted, however, that the July reports don’t reflect the recent weeks of impact with the rising number of COVID-19 infections.
