The Kluis Commodity Advisors/Successful Farming 2024 Planting Intentions Survey finds American farmers plan to seed more soybean acres this year, but not as many as USDA predicted last month.

According to the survey, the combined total of corn, soybean and wheat acres in 2024 will be 226 million, down from 227.8 million acres in 2023. Farmers anticipate planting 92.5 million corn acres this year. In 2023 farmers planted 94.6 million acres of corn.

Last month at the USDA Agricultural Outlook Forum, the agency released the 2024 Grains and Oilseeds Outlook, which pegged 2024 corn acres at 91 million.

The Kluis/SF survey pegged soybean acres at 87 million. Last year farmers planted 83.6 million soybean acres. The USDA’s February report pegged 2024 soybean acres at 87.5 million.
