According to the agency’s latest Crop Progress Report, USDA says 92% of U.S. corn and 83% of beans are planted. Both paces are well ahead of the average, with corn trumping the five-year average of 84% and soybeans blowing past the five-year average of 65%.
Emergence is mostly in good-to-excellent condition. 72% of corn has emerged compared to the five-year average of 64%, and 56% of soybeans have emerged compared to the typical 40%. Winter wheat is staying bleak, with just 34% rated in good or excellent condition, although this is a 4% increase from last week.
