The National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) filed comments to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on June 17 regarding reporting requirements proposal on climate-related disclosures for investors. Joined by other ag groups, NPPC, requested the SEC to reconsider what they view as burdensome and unnecessary climate disclosure requirements.
The group says the current requirements proposed would be overly burdensome to U.S. ag producers and could force costly reporting that could set back farm environmental performance. Other groups supporting NPPC’s assertions include the American Farm Bureau and various state crop and livestock associations.
