A National Crop Insurance Services (NCIS) scholarship program is helping grow diversity in agriculture through new opportunities for agricultural students around the country. The NCIS 1890 Scholarship Program is available to students at land-grant universities — all that focus on ag and mechanical sciences and some of them historically black universities — who are preparing for careers in agriculture. The 10-year-old scholarship program has helped more than two dozen students realize higher education aspirations, many of them the first in their families to attend college. The program that ProAg is proud to support aims to help grow diversity in the agriculture and agribusiness workforce so it matches the diversity of the farmers and ranchers it serves.
