The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced updates are on the way to the much-talked-about Waters of the United States (WOTUS) definition which has caused stress among landowners. Agricultural groups have long argued the Obama-era WOTUS definition, adjusted in 2015, risked waterways and the stakeholders and communities that rely on them due to a lack of clarity and definition. The EPA plans to rely on a majority of the old WOTUS rule’s definition with additional adjustments based on farmer and rancher feedback.
