Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins has appointed three new board members to the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC). The FCIC Board of Directors provides guidance to the USDA’s Risk Management Agency (RMA) on the administration of the crop insurance program. The additions serving new four-year terms — Tim Weber, Cara Riekhof and Brett Wightman — bring decades of experience in crop insurance delivery, farm production and risk management, offering a mix of industry, on-farm and agent perspectives.

For farmers, changes to the FCIC board can influence future insurance options and program priorities. The board’s work supports farmers’ access to credit, encourages resilience at the farm level and helps ensure producers can recover from losses and continue producing food, feed, fiber and fuel for the nation and the world. As these new directors take their seats, farmers should stay aware of how FCIC priorities and recommendations may shape crop insurance offerings in the coming seasons.
