The U.S. Departments of Justice and Agriculture launched a new website this past week that allows farmers and ranchers to anonymously report potentially unfair and anticompetitive practices within the livestock and poultry sectors. Farmerfairness.gov advances the goals of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Action Plan for a fairer, more competitive, and more resilient meat and poultry supply chain. The tool will help farmers and ranchers ensure they’re being paid a fair and competitive price for their goods and labor. Any complaints submitted can be anonymous and will go through a preliminary review by the Department of Justice Antitrust Division staff and USDA Packers and Stockyards Division staff. Complaints raising sufficient concern will be selected for further investigation.
Producers can also submit complaints by emailing PSDComplaints@usda.gov; calling (833) 342-5773; faxing (202) 205-9237; or mailing Stop 3601, 1400 Independence Ave. SW, Washington, D.C., 20250-3601.
