The USDA announced new relief payments for livestock producers who had to euthanize animals during the pandemic. Unveiled July 13, the Pandemic Livestock Indemnity Program will offer 80% of the fair market value to eligible livestock producers including poultry, swine, chickens and turkeys. Pork producers are expected to be the primary program recipients after the industry was nearly halted altogether due to meat processing facility closures. Applications for relief will be available starting July 20. Find out how to apply.
