The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reported a sizable drop in drought areas around the U.S.

Wet weather and early spring across much of the country decreased the drought area to around 18% of the U.S. by the end of March. According to NOAA, that is down from 20% at the end of February and 36% at the beginning of winter. That is the lowest drought level across the country since May 2020.

The most intense categories of Extreme and Exceptional Drought covered only about one percent of the country at the end of March. This is also the lowest amount since May 2020.
