House approval of The Ocean Shipping Reform Act of 2021 is a key step in strengthening U.S. ag exports. While red meat exports are on record pace this year, supply chain struggles, including port backlogs and delaying in shipping, continue to present obstacles for U.S. exporters. The bipartisan Ocean Shipping Reform Act is poised to be a gamechanger for the headwinds ailing shipping progress.
The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) thanked House members for their support of the legislation, as did the Agriculture Transportation Coalition, National Pork Producers Council and the North American Meat Institute. USMEF CEO Dan Halstrom says the legislation will help the country continue to meet international demand.
