U.S. meat exports continue to soar in the last quarter of 2021. October data from USDA says red meat exports were strong as beef export values shattered an annual record. Pork exports remain on pace and year-to-date shipments remain slightly above the record pace of 2020. Beef exports increased 7.5% in October compared to the same time last year, reaching 115,709 metric tons while export value climbed a whopping 48% to nearly $960 million – the second-highest total on record, only behind the record previously created in August of this year. Meanwhile, pork export value slipped 3.5% in October to $618.8 million, however, record shipments to Mexico and Colombia have kept exports competitive and are setting annual records.
