As the year draws to a close, cattle consultants reflect on 2021 challenges and what opportunities are ahead in the new year. Purina Animal Nutrition’s Chad Zehnder, Doug Hawkins and Martha Moen shared their perspectives on increasing input costs, forage challenges, drought, flooding, consumer demand and the role the COVID-19 pandemic will still play in 2022. All three experts also share their tips for producers in the new year and agree that the cattle industry looks promising in the coming months.
Their biggest advice to forward-thinking producers is to be flexible in management and marketing plans, focus on feeding programs and planning ahead to weather the storms of input cost uncertainty.
